Cañon City, CO - 1918 miles
This bridge, twelve miles west of Cañon City, on Route 50 was built in 1929, is 1'052 feet high and a quarter of a mile long over the Arkansas River. Walking over this bridge is quite adventurous as the bridge is pretty shaky, especially if the wind blows hard and this is very often the case at this altitude over the gorge. In 2004 this bridge had it's 75th annniversary.
Cañon City (pronounced Canyon) is an interesting town with a remarkable history. Situated in a beautiful valley along the Arkansas River, the area boasts 325 days of sunshine annually.
Chile Wagon Restaurant (807 Cyanide Ave.) Specializing in Mexican foods with American flair Don't worry about the street name. Cyanide was used to remove gold from the rocks.
Also, Alfonso's Super Taco, is said to be very good (and cheap).

Pueblo, CO - 1882 miles
By the way, all of you vistors, it's not pronounced PEE-EBLO or POO-EBLO, it's PWEB-LPUEBLO - Some of the older locals remembers when his city was just known as "Pew Town." Pollution from the state’s largest steel mill once filled the city’s air with foul-smelling odors and chemicals. Today, they proudly point out the haze-free view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the distance.
Route 50 continues to Canon City and on west to Salida. Nice to almost be off the plains. Virtualy.
